CLERMONT COUNTY, Ohio (WKRC) – Batavia Police Chief Chad Essert is back in Clermont County after being arrested in Florida on child sex charges.

Investigators accuse Essert of having sex with one of his students in both Clermont and Hamilton counties.

The allegations stem from the period between 2005 and 2010, when Essert was a teacher at Scarlet Oaks and an instructor in the Young Marines program.

Bethel’s mayor said he is in the process of removing Essert as police chief. Essert is expected to face a judge on Monday.
