No, there wasn’t a plane parade scheduled, but on March 29, 1975, two small airplanes disrupted traffic when they went traveling down Colonial Drive in Orlando.
The two airplanes – one a specially built racer owned by Dick Durst that was taxiing down the highway, and the other a 1929 Pietenpol that was being towed by owner Allan Wise – were earlier at a nearby car wash as part of a promotion.
They made their way along Colonial Drive back to Herndon Airport (now Orlando Executive Airport), slowing traffic along the way.
