MARTIN COUNTY, Fla (CBS12) — A massive vehicle fire involving a semi-truck car hauler carrying several Tesla vehicles forced the closure of Florida’s Turnpike and Interstate 95 in Hobe Sound late Friday night, according to Martin County Fire Rescue.

Firefighters responded to the scene just before 11 p.m. after a semi-truck transporting multiple Teslas caught fire.

Officials said there were no reported injuries.

As crews worked to extinguish the blaze, shifting winds caused smoke and fire conditions to worsen, prompting the closure of both northbound and southbound lanes of Interstate 95 in addition to all lanes of Florida’s Turnpike in the area.

Martin County Fire Rescue urged drivers to avoid the area and seek alternate routes while emergency crews remained on scene.

The cause of the fire has not been released, and it was not immediately clear how many vehicles were involved.
