PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (CBS12) — A late-night blaze gutted a Port St. Lucie home. Firefighters say no one was injured, and the family dog was rescued.

Around 11 p.m. on Friday, St. Lucie County Fire District (SLCFD) was called to a blazing house fire on the 2900 block of SW Ventura in Port St. Lucie.

Upon arrival, firefighters say they were greeted by plumes of smoke and flames rising through the roof of the home.

According to the SLCFD, no one was home at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported.

Luckily, the family dog was safely removed from the home and cared for by neighbors until the family arrived at the scene.

SLCFD says fire investigators were called to determine the source of the fire.
