TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Dozens of people took part in a community jam session Sunday, recognizing National Music Day at Cascades Park.
Sahara Lyon-Mundy attended the local community event. “It’s really important to highlight local musicians, have spaces where people can come out, be with each other, be with the community, and celebrate live music in Tallahassee,” Lyon-Mundy said.
She is part of the Council on Culture and Arts (COCA), which hosted Sunday’s event.

“It’s like a very organic setting in which to play music,” Lyon-Mundy said. “It’s basically a music circle where people are invited to come out, bring their instruments and partake in music-making. So you don’t have to have a band. You don’t have to have a group.”
She said there is an abundance of talent in Tallahassee and events like the community jam are a way to showcase that talent, while bringing musicians together.
“It’s kind of like a universal language,” Lyon-Mundy said.
