Located in Oldsmar, Fla., Tampa Bay Downs has undergone several transformations since its inception in 1926. From its humble beginnings as Tampa Downs to its current state-of-the-art facilities, the track has remained one of Florida’s most beloved racing destinations.
Each racing season is punctuated by a series of signature events, most notably the Tampa Bay Derby, a key prep race for the Kentucky Derby. Other big event days include Florida Cup Day, for Florida-bred horses.
While Tampa Bay Downs may not have hosted as many high-profile races as some other bigger venues, it has still welcomed several notable equine athletes, including Cigar, Skip Away, Silver Charm, and Holy Bull.
