A man rescued from a Lauderhill pond on Saturday evening could not be resuscitated, according to the Lauderhill Police Department.
Police are investigating the death as a drowning, according to a release.
Officers were called to a neighborhood on the 5600 block of Enclave Place about 5:19 p.m. Family members told officers that a man had been underwater for some time, police said.
Aerial maps show a pond in the rear of the residential buildings.
Officers couldn’t immediately find the man in the water.
Lauderhill Fire Rescue and the Sunrise Police Department Dive Team arrived, searched and brought the man out of the water. Despite life-saving efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene, the department said.
The department’s criminal and crime scene teams are conducting the death investigation.
The man’s identity was not released by police as of Sunday.
