Former DCF child protective investigator faces charges for allegedly falsifying records

  • November 3, 2025

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – A former child protective investigator for the Florida Department of Children and Families is facing charges for falsifying records, according to court records.

Brittany Shiver, 33, was arrested Sunday and faces three counts of falsifying records, recent court documents revealed. She was released on bond that same day, according to the documents.

Shiver’s charges stem from an investigation into her that began in August, after DCF officials accused her of falsifying home visits with clients in at least two cases, the records show.

During an interview with authorities in September, court records say Shiver “began to cry” and admitted to falsifying records, which she claimed she did not know was a criminal offense.

The records went on to say that during the interview, Shiver also told agents that “she was a new employee and that she was trained virtually and that after her training, she was put out on her own to work cases without having any help.”

Additionally, the 33-year-old said “she was overwhelmed and that she had no support from her co-workers,” per the documents.

Shiver told the agents “she was being honest and that she had nothing to hide,” the records show.

WCTV reached out to DCF on Monday morning and has not heard back at this time.
