TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Police are investigating after responding to a shooting in Tampa late Saturday morning.

According to the Tampa Police Department, officers responded to the 400 Block of East Oak Avenue just before 10:45 a.m. in reference to a shooting.

Officers arrived on the scene and found a woman who had been shot. She was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Police said the suspect, a man whose name was not released, immediately left the scene.

Officers found the suspect near North 12th Street and East Palifox Street with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was immediately taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Based on the investigation so far, police believe the victim and the suspect know each other.

The investigation is ongoing.
