Police have arrested the ex-boyfriend of a woman found injured in the lobby of a Jacksonville apartment building.

A caller told dispatchers about 5:22 a.m. Saturday that he found a woman in the lobby of 500 W. State St. who he thought had been strangled.

Officers who arrived did not see any indication of a strangulation, “but did see she was bruised on the rest of her body,” according to Jacksonville Police Lt. Sean Walker.

The woman declined being taken to the hospital, Walker said.

About an hour later, police arrested a man who lives in the same apartment building. He is said to be the woman’s ex-boyfriend, according to a police report.

The 26-year-old Jacksonville man was arrested on a domestic battery charge. He is accused of “striking his ex-girlfriend, causing injuries,” according to the arrest report.

He was being held Monday in Morgan County Detention Facility, according to jail records. Court information about his case was unavailable.
