TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Tallahassee State College and Wiregrass Georgia Technical College were both named in the top 200 community colleges in the nation.
The national distinction from the Aspen Institute recognizes institutions for their student outcomes in retention, completion, transfer and attainment of bachelor’s degrees.
“We are incredibly proud to be named among the top 200 community colleges in the nation,” said Dr. Jim Murdaugh, president of TSC. “It affirms the work happening every day to support our students, strengthen our workforce, and elevate opportunity throughout our region.”

Also named among the top 200 community colleges is Wiregrass Georgia Technical College, based in Valdosta, Georgia.
Both colleges are now eligible for the $1 million Aspen Prize, awarded every two years.
According to the Aspen Institute, this award recognizes “excellent community colleges that achieve high and improving levels of student success.”
The winner of the Aspen Prize will be announced in Spring 2027.
