TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Decorated women’s soccer player, Crystal Dunn is headed to Tallahassee this weekend to spend time with the Reckoning soccer team and attend the team’s home game on Saturday.
Dunn, who retired in January, was the ultimate winner during her career. She won a college national championship with North Carolina,a world cup title, and an Olympic gold medal; not to mention countless additional individual awards.
A player with a resume like this is bound to help the Reckoning just by their presence, and Dunn now has the time to be here in person.
“Now in retirement, it’s just amazing that I have the time and the capacity to get involved in things that I find a lot of value in,” she said.
Reckoning founder Ashlee Fontes was with the Washington Spirit during Dunn’s time playing for the NWSL team. Now Dunn says she feels like her career is coming full circle.
She says she’s excited to get to Tallahassee and take in the Reckoning experience.
“I’m actually someone who always weirdly roots for underdogs and I think Tallahassee is kind of that market that maybe isn’t on everyone’s radar, but has so much potential to really break barriers and basically showcase what the amazing people in the community have fought for, for all this time,” said Dunn. “I think it’s great. I have so much hope and belief that this team is going to be exactly where they need to be down the road.”
The Reckoning face Sporting Jax on the road on Tuesday, before returning home for the regular season finale against Fort Lauderdale United FC on Saturday.
Kick off is set for 7 p.m.
