Brush fires spread across Gulf Coast as blaze grows to 240 acres in Babcock/Webb wildlife area

Firefighters have responded to multiple brush fires as storms moved through our Gulf Coast.The Florida Forest Service said crews are battling a 240-acre brush fire in the Fred C. Babcock/Cecil M. Webb Wildlife Management Area. As of 9:43 p.m. Monday, the fire was 95% contained, according to FFS.Charlotte County Fire and EMS officials said crews were dispatched to the area of Oil Well Road at approximately 5:14 p.m. Monday. Firefighters found an approximately five-acre brush fire.
