This week on The Big Gay Radio Show, City of St. Petersburg LGBTQIA+ Liaison Nathan Bruemmer joined Chris Gorman, Esmé Russell, and Bryan Hinkson to discuss Pride, local governments vs. the State of Florida, and the city’s ongoing support for the LGBTQIA+ community.

Bruemmer discussed St. Petersburg’s commitment to inclusion and the city’s efforts to support and protect LGBTQIA+ residents. The conversation also focused on the upcoming St. Pete Pride celebrations and the challenges local governments face as state leaders continue scrutinizing municipal support for Pride-related events and initiatives.

The team also discussed the Tampa Bay Rays’ Pride Night and recent backlash directed at the Mayor of Tarpon Springs after he honored a same-sex couple.

The conversation continued on The Big Gay After Show, where Chris, Esmé, and Bryan discussed some of the week’s biggest headlines.

Topics included repeated violations at a daycare facility, the release of findings from the Champlain Towers collapse investigation, and the firing of a man who confronted a father for taking his young daughters into a women’s restroom.

The trio also discussed a Supreme Court ruling involving marijuana users and firearm ownership, a bipartisan housing bill that recently passed, and a minor league baseball team that forfeited a game after players refused to wear Pride-themed jerseys.

Additional stories included a coffee shop owner banning Representative Dan Goldman, a federal judge overturning SNAP benefit restrictions, new regulations involving sloths in Florida, and other headlines making news across the country.
