ST. LUCIE COUNTY — The Council on Aging of St. Lucie County kicked off its 7th Annual Holiday Angels program today, with Better Life Home Care proudly serving as the presenting sponsor.

The celebration took place at the Council’s office located at 1505 Orange Avenue, Fort Pierce, marking the official start of this cherished community tradition that brings joy to more than 500 local seniors during the holiday season.

St. Lucie County is home to a large and growing senior population, many of whom live on fixed incomes or face isolation during the holidays. The Holiday Angels program provides gifts, essential items, and companionship to ensure older adults in need are not forgotten. Through the generosity of community donors, volunteers, and sponsors, the Council on Aging delivers gifts, personal care items, grocery gift cards, and festive treats to brighten the season for seniors.

This year’s fundraising goal is $20,000, which will allow every senior served through the program to receive a $40 grocery store gift card to enjoy a special holiday meal.

“Many seniors in our community face challenges during the holidays, and Holiday Angels gives everyone a chance to make a meaningful difference,” said Darrell Drummond, Executive Director of the Council on Aging. “Today’s kickoff celebrates our volunteers, donors, and sponsors like Better Life Home Care who help bring joy, dignity, and connection to older adults in St. Lucie County.”

In addition to monetary contributions, the Council on Aging also welcomes donations of new blankets, hygiene essentials, puzzles, small radios, and other thoughtful gifts that can help brighten a senior’s holiday season. Community members are encouraged to participate by donating, sponsoring a senior, or volunteering. Every contribution stays local and directly supports seniors in need.
