MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. (WWSB) – A full closure at CR 675 and State Road 70 has been extended as crews continue work on the SR 70 Improvement Project.
The Florida Department of Transportation said the closure is needed for full intersection reconfiguration work. The closure began April 20 and was originally expected to last 45 days, with the intersection reopening June 5. That date was later pushed back to June 23.

FDOT has since told the county that crews need one additional week to finish the work and reopen the intersection. The new target date is June 30.
Emergency and official vehicles will be allowed through the intersection, but other through traffic will not be permitted. Drivers are asked to follow the posted detour, use caution in the area and watch for advance warning signs.
