PORT ST. LUCIE ── Vicky Bakery, one of Miami’s most popular Cuban bakeries, has opened its first Treasure Coast location on Gatlin Boulevard.
Serving flaky pastelitos, tender croquetas, iconic Cubanos and potent coffee since 1972, the family-owned business has more than 25 locations in Florida.
Located in Gatlin Pointe Plaza, at 1234 S.W. Gatlin Blvd., Vicky Bakery opened its doors Oct. 20 for what the industry calls a soft opening. Plans for a December grand opening celebration are underway.
At Vicky Bakery, each specialty Cuban pastry is made with a family recipe that has been passed down from abuelito to abuelo. Menu options include cafecito, delicious desserts, lunch bites, custom cakes and traditional plates. Guava lovers swear by Vicky’s pastelito de guayaba.
“Vicky Bakery’s family values and generational recipes are a perfect fit for the town,” said Bianca Colon, franchise owner of the Port St. Lucie location.
Antonio and Gelasia Cao, the founders of Vicky Bakery, began in the baking business more than 50 years ago, when they met and fell in love while working at Cuba’s most renowned bakery of the time, La Vencedora. The couple married and migrated to Miami as political exiles, and soon had enough money saved up to buy a small bakery in Hialeah.
A south Florida staple since 1972, Florida’s iconic Cuban bakery brand will offer the same family-owned charm and freshly baked traditions in Port St. Lucie. Hours are subject to change, but for now they are open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Saturday and from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sundays.
