An Uber driver accused of sexually battering a woman who said she was drugged was arrested in Doral on Thursday, authorities said.

Yusel Perez, 42, was charged with sexual battery while a victim was physically incapacitated and kidnapping, Miami-Dade Jail records showed.

According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, on June 4, the victim told deputies that the day before, she was out clubbing and believed she had been drugged.

An arrest report said that she had blacked out, and she only remembers walking out of the nightclub. The day after she was at the club, the victim woke up at Palm Lakes Hospital and was complaining of vaginal soreness, which caused her to believe that she had been raped.

During their investigation, detectives reviewed surveillance video that showed Perez carrying the inebriated victim to an apartment where he lived, the report said.

Perez was then arrested and taken to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.

Uber released the following statement:

“While the driver was not using Uber at the time of the incident, we are deeply disturbed by this report and have banned him from the platform. Uber takes the safety of our communities seriously, and we stand ready to assist law enforcement with their investigation.”
