OBITUARY

Ben Michael Seligsohn, 66, passed away suddenly at his home in Wilton Manors on April 22, 2026.

Born in Manhasset, New York, Ben was the beloved eldest son of Adrea D. (Gelb) Seligsohn and Leo V. Seligsohn. He spent his early years in Merrick before moving to Huntington, New York, at age 12.

Creative from an early age, Ben found expression through the visual and performing arts. As a teenager, he appeared as “The Boy” in Waiting for Godot at the Performing Arts Foundation Playhouse and performed with the Long Island Shakespeare Company. He attended Simon’s Rock in Great Barrington, Massachusetts, graduating high school early, and later studied at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art in London.

Ben founded an executive search firm in NYC, specializing in information technology recruitment. He later combined his entrepreneurial spirit with his artistic vision through real estate investment, renovating homes and apartments. After relocating to Fort Lauderdale, he continued buying, restoring, and selling properties, dividing his time in recent years between Florida and New York City.

Ben’s greatest joys were creating welcoming homes, entertaining family and friends, caring for his beloved dog Rodney, and supporting the Broward County Opera Society. He had a gift for building community and making everyone feel like family.

He is survived by his brother, Robert Seligsohn; his sister, Susan Seligsohn Howell; his niece, Olivia D. Howell; his nephew, Jacob S. Howell; and a cherished circle of extended family and friends.

Ben will be remembered for his generosity, resilience, loyalty, and zest for life. The keeper of family lore, he had an extraordinary memory for recalling people and moments with vivid clarity, a quirky sense of humor, and a love of spirited debate. He delighted in observing life’s absurdities and sharing stories that often left him laughing out loud. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

A memorial gathering will be held on Sunday, June 28, in Manhattan. For additional information, please contact the family. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ben’s memory may be made to the Southern Poverty Law Center.
