TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV/Gray Florida Capital Bureau) – Online court records indicate Wu-Tang Clan impersonator Aaron Barnes Burpo is back behind bars, accused of violating his supervised release from federal prison.
Burpo is a Crestview, Florida resident, court records indicate.
An arrest affidavit submitted by United States Probation Officer Travis J Gauthreaux says Burpo had a 2018 Porsche and admitted to smoking marijuana on multiple occasions, all while failing to pay back restitution.
The U.S. Department of Justice previously said Burpo “faked” an association with the Wu-Tang Clan to defraud businesses like hotels and limo companies.
He was originally sentenced in March of 2021 to 84 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release, on top of just under $300,000 in restitution.
Officer Gauthreaux wrote that Burpo has only paid back less than $1,000. Court records show he was arrested on June 24th, and that no further action has yet occurred in the case.
