Rain to wrap up the week, turning HOT this weekend for Tallahassee, the Big Bend and South Georgia

  • June 26, 2026

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – As we wrap up the workweek, scattered rain is back. Grab the rain gear as you head out the door this morning. While you might not need the umbrella now, hit or miss heavy downpours will develop mid to late morning and move west to east through the afternoon.

Hit or miss rain

Like typical summer fashion, the rain and storms will not last all day and it will NOT be raining everywhere at once. Your neighboring town might be enjoying the sun while you are underneath a downpour, whichis the nature of the summer storms. If you are outside this afternoon, cooling down in the pool, just know you may need to run inside for 30 to 45 minutes.

In between the showers and storms, expect sunshine with clouds gradually increasing throughout the day. Warm and humid with highs in the upper 80s to low 90s.

Hot weekend ahead

High pressure builds in this weekend, leading to a hot and mainly dry Saturday and Sunday. Although a shower or two is possible both days, I expect most of the area to stay dry. The high will also favor hotter than normal temperatures, reaching the middle to upper 90s. The summer humidity will make it feel close to 105 in the afternoon.

Muggy with showers next week

Tropical moisture increases early next week, leading to more clouds and a higher rain chance. It is worth watching late Monday into Tuesday. For quite a few runs, a semi-tropical low develops moving from the Atlantic to the Gulf, bringing some extreme downpours and gusty winds, especially for North Florida. Either way, some higher rain chances come with this early next week. Highs staying in the 90s and very humid.

A more typical summer pattern returns midweek and beyond.
