The manager of a local smoothie franchise in Tampa was arrested and charged with more than 100 counts of possession of child pornography.
Brian Schaff, 30, is the former manager at Robeks Fresh Juice and Smoothies on E Kennedy Boulevard.
Detectives began investigating Schaff in late May after receiving a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, reporting images of child pornography uploaded to an online cloud storage.
The images were later determined to be AI-generated. Schaaf’s search history showed terms including “AI face swap” and “NSFW AI face swap,” according to Tampa police.
As of October 2022, it is a felony in Florida to “willfully generate any altered sexual depiction” of a person without their consent.
Schaaf was arrested on June 8 and charged with two felony counts of creating child pornography.
Police say a search warrant later revealed more child porn images in Schaaf’s possession, and officers with the U.S. Marshals Task Force arrested him again on June 23.
He now faces 100 felony charges of solicitation/possession of child pornography, plus six felony charges of generating altered sexual depictions without consent.
“This case is disturbing and incomprehensible,” Tampa Police Chief Lee Bercar said in a statement. “I am incredibly proud of the detectives whose tireless dedication helped remove this predator from our community and put him behind bars.”
A spokesperson for Robeks Fresh Juice and Smoothies confirmed Schaaf is no longer the manager of the Tampa location.
