HAMILTON COUNTY, Fla. (WCTV) – The Florida Department of Health in Hamilton County extended a rabies alert for the county in a Friday announcement.
The alert was initially issued on May 10 after an unvaccinated pet cat tested positive in the area of North Jennings off North West 27th Boulevard.
Recently, on June 24, a fox died suddenly in the area near Jennings off North West 37th Boulevard, according to the DOH.
The DOH reminded residents to be cautious and avoid wild or stray animals.
The alert area includes:
North: NW County Road 143South: NW County Road 146East: NW 37th Blvd. West: NW 58th Ave
Residents are asked to contact a veterinarian if their pet has been exposed to a wild animal and to immunize pets and livestock.
