Port St. Lucie, Fla. — Port St. Lucie Mayor, Shannon Martin, visited CBS 12 News and appeared on ARC FL to talk about her campaign for re-election. She is asking voters to let her continue her leadership, but as the election nears in August, there is noticeable public discontent about trash collection and traffic. And Martin faces two challengers.

Martin has served on the City Council since 2010. She has been Mayor since winning a 2021 special election, before securing a full term in 2022.
Martin says the city has made significant progress, but believes additional work remains to address mobility through the city and drainage improvement.
Martin rebutted some of the claims from her opponent, Steve Giordano, during his ARC interview. And she talked about the Waste Pro Settlement funds being given to residents in the form of tax credits: That has been a controversial subject, many people wanted a check in the mail, but City Hall was concerned about lost checks, stolen checks, and the costs in issuing that many checks.
Port St. Lucie continues to rank among the nation’s fastest-growing communities.
