TALLAHASSEE, Fla (WCTV) – A former LCSO School Resource deputy accused in a drug trafficking conspiracy has entered a plea to federal firearms charges, court records show.
Bill Culpepper, 56, and his son Garret Culpepper, 25, were arrested in March 2025 on marijuana trafficking charges and later indicted in federal court.
Federal court records, known as PACER, show Bill Culpepper entered a guilty plea last week to two counts – possession of an illegal machine gun and possession of an unregistered firearm.
Bill Culpepper could face up to 10 years in federal prison. He is scheduled to be sentenced on January 20, 2026.
His attorney, Tim Jansen, had no comment on the plea.
Culpepper’s son, Garret Culpepper, is also under federal indictment for drug distribution and weapons charges. Federal court records show his trial is now set for December 2nd.
Both father and son are still facing drug charges in state court, too.
“Those charges are still pending until there is a final resolution in their federal cases,” prosecutor Sara Hassler said of the Culpeppers’ state charges. “Then we’ll make a decision about what’s appropriate.”
