NHC identifies low-pressure area off Florida’s Atlantic coast

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — The National Hurricane Center is monitoring an area of low-pressure in the Atlantic approaching the Southeast U.S.

As of Saturday morning, the disturbance had a 20% chance of developing into a cyclone within the next seven days, and a zero percent chance of development over the next 48 hours.

According to NHC, the low-pressure area is expected to form early next week along the western side of a frontal system.

The slow-moving system is currently heading west, and, if it forms, could potentially impact Florida’s northeast coast.
