Logan Moss didn’t need long to respond when asked what stood out about his first season with the Jacksonville Ospreys.

“I would say the chemistry and the guys in the dugout. It’s a really fun group,” Moss said. “The off days are honestly more fun than playing in the games because you get to hang out with everybody. Coming to the ballpark every day is fun, but I’ve also liked hanging out, playing poker, going to the beach and watching the College World Series with these guys.”

It’s safe to say that the 19-year-old outfielder has enjoyed being with the third-year summer collegiate baseball team.

The product of Trinity Christian School in Sharpsburg, GA., spent his freshman collegiate year at Walters State Community College in Morristown, TN., before he joined the Ospreys, coached by Josiah Zamora.

Moss doesn’t regret that decision one bit.

“I reached out to a few teams and then I got in touch with Josiah towards the end of the spring, and it seemed like a good fit. The coaches we play for are great and they give you advice about the game and about life,” Moss said. “It’s 15 minutes from the beach, too, and you can’t beat that. It’s been fun so far and a great experience.”

But while Moss has enjoyed the summer, he also knows he has work to do before he returns to Walters State Community College, which this past season won its second consecutive Tennessee Community College Athletic Association regular season and tournament title.

Moss red-shirted for the Senators, who returned to the National Junior College Athletic Association Division I World Series after being the national runner-up in 2025.

“For me, it’s about maturing at the plate,” Moss said. “Last season was a learning experience. I have the ability to play at a high level, so I am just locking in on my approach and on my plate discipline.”

That mindset seems to have helped.

Moss is among the team hitting leaders as he bats .386 with six doubles and three home runs while he tops the Ospreys with a .727 on-base-percentage. He also has six stolen bases.

Earlier this month, Moss was named the Ospreys’ slugger of the week and earned a player of the game nod.

“Logan is a great guy, a five-tool guy who has adjusted well battling through adversity,” Zamora said. “He had a slow start, but he tinkered with some mechanics and he’s had success with those adjustments. Anytime he barrels up the baseball, it’s going to be an extra base hit. In the outfield, the kid covers from light pole to light pole. He’s been a phenomenal guy to watch.”

Moss hopes his momentum carries over at Walters State Community College.

“Next year, I obviously want to be our starting center fielder, I want to win a gold glove and be a JUCO All-American,” he said. “I also want to become more of a leader. Baseball is something I’ve been blessed with the ability to do, but no matter what, I want to have an influence on the people around me.”
