A Parkland woman is dead and a man from Cape Coral has serious injuries after a head-on car collision on Alligator Alley near Mile Marker 36 on Friday night, Florida Highway Patrol said.
The 45-year-old woman, driving a 2020 Tesla Model 3, was traveling in the wrong direction — westbound on Alligator Alley’s eastbound lanes — at about 10 p.m. She struck the front-left side of a 2026 BMW X3 driven by the Cape Coral man, officials said. The woman was pronounced dead at the crash site.
Emergency crews took the 25-year-old man to a hospital with serious injuries, according to police.
No other injuries were reported.
Mile Marker 36 is roughly one mile east of the Alligator Alley Rest Stop and Recreation Area and about 10 miles west of Weston’s city limits.
Florida Highway Patrol does not release driver names until crash reports are completed, FHP spokesperson Lt. Gregory Bueno said.
The crash remains under investigation.
