A 21-year-old person has died in a fatal crash in Miami County on Saturday night, June 27.
The Piqua Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said Yukahn Riffell of Ansonia was pronounced dead at the scene.
Crews responded to reports of a fatal crash around 8 p.m. on Interstate 75 near milepost 75, according to the patrol.
OSHP said a 2010 Freightliner tractor-trailer had pulled onto the right shoulder within a construction zone out of the traffic lanes due to a mechanical issue.
Several minutes after the Freightliner stopped, it was struck from behind by Riffell’s 2005 Chevrolet Impala that had previously been traveling northbound on Interstate 75, according to the patrol, who said Riffell had driven out of a lane on northbound I-75 and into the closed lanes of the construction zone.
No other injuries were reported.
