Cape Coral police chase, arrest driver accused of fleeing traffic stop at more than 100 mph

A man was arrested after Cape Coral police said he fled from an attempted traffic stop at speeds of over 100 mph.

According to the Cape Coral Police Department, on June 26 at around 7:45 a.m., officers saw a dark gray BMW driving about 60 mph in a 35 mph zone on Del Prado Boulevard South. Officers attempted to stop the BMW using emergency lights and sirens.

The BMW then sped off, later reaching an estimated 102 mph in a 30 mph zone, CCPD said. Officers chased the vehicle and eventually located it in a parking lot at 4808 Cape Coral Street.

The driver, identified as Chase Ciano, 22, was arrested. He faces charges of fleeing/eluding law enforcement and speeding at 100+ mph.
