The Cape Coral Bridge and nearby roads will close from 3 a.m. July 4 until 3 a.m. July 5 for the city’s annual Red, White & Boom celebration and Freedom 5K. The closures include Cape Coral Parkway between Southeast 15th Avenue and the bridge, and Del Prado Boulevard between Southeast 47th Terrace and Miramar Street/Waikiki Avenue. The Freedom 5K begins at 7 a.m., followed by Red, White & Boom at 5 p.m. Fireworks are scheduled for about 9:30 p.m. Motorists are encouraged to use the Veterans Memorial or Business U.S. 41 bridges as alternate routes. The city also will provide free shuttle service for event attendees.
