TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – The man charged in a 2022 Tallahassee parking lot shooting that left one woman injured was found guilty, according to court documents.
Maurice Smith was found guilty of two counts of attempted second- degree murder, one count of attempted manslaughter and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

In April 2022, a fight between two women broke out in the parking lot of an apartment complex on Jackson Bluff Road when shots were fired. The victim was an innocent bystander, according to court documents.
Smith was arrested several days after the shooting after being identified as the shooter by several witnesses.
According to the State Attorney’s Office, Smith had been pressuring the victim into not testifying.

Court documents show the shooting happened within three years of Smith being released from prison. He will be sentenced as a Prison Releasee Reoffender under Florida law and will be subject to a minimum of 30 years in prison, but is eligible for up to life.
A sentencing date has not been set as Smith has three other criminal cases pending, according to the State Attorney’s Office.
