INDIANTOWN — A 400-lb black bear was struck by a vehicle and killed June 29.
Martin County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to Southwest Martin Highway and Southwest Warfield Boulevard in Indiantown after a motorist struck a black bear that ran into the roadway, according to MCSO.
The driver immediately stopped and remained with the bear while dialing 911.
The bear died on the scene and the motorist was not injured.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission removed the bear.
