If you’re planning to go to the Universal Orlando theme parks this July, you’ll want to keep in mind that some attractions may not be operating while you’re there.

Whether they’re closed for refurbishment or for other reasons, you don’t want to be surprised when you show up to the attraction just to find out it’s not operating. And with three theme parks and a water parks, there are a lot of attractions. Here is every attraction that will be closed in July and when.
One attraction in Universal Islands of Adventure is closed for only two days in July. Pteranodon Flyers closed at the end of February for a short refurbishment and has a tentative reopening date of July 3rd, 2026, which means it will still be closed on July 1st and 2nd.

Pteranodon Flyers is located in the Jurassic Park section of Islands of Adventure, where younger ones can take flight under the 10-foot wings of a Pteranodon. This ride has no sudden or scary movements, which makes it a perfect attraction for the youngest guests not ready for those bigger rides! The minimum height requirement is 36 inches (three feet), while the maximum height guests can be is 56 inches (just under five feet).

Jurassic Park River Adventure will also remain closed through July. This ride is getting a massive refurbishment and is set to reopen on November 19th, 2026. We can’t wait to see what changes!

In DreamWorks Land over at Universal Studios Florida, Po’s Kung Fu Training Camp and Po Live! will be reopening at the beginning of July. Similar to Pteranodon Flyers, these attractions will only be closed for several days in the first week of July, and both have a tentative reopening date of July 4th.

Po’s Kung Fu Training Camp is a kids’ play area where younger guests will be able to splash around with pandas as you help them wash and dry their laundry! Kids can also twirl on Mr. Ping’s spinning noodle bowls! Po Live! is an experience where guests can interact with Po on a digital animated screen. While babysitting his baby cousin and cooking up some delicious snacks, he’ll teach you the ways of kung fu!

Universal Orlando’s Horror Make-Up Show is another experience that will be closed in July. This live show shows guests how top make-up and special effects artists are able to pull off creating some of the creepy characters that you’ve seen on the big screen! Doubling as a comedy show, this experience offers a bit of fascinatingly funny insight into how these movies come together. While we don’t have an exact opening date, this experience is set to open later this year.
