Tom was born on October 27, 1958 in Jacksonville, Florida. He was the son of Thomas P. Smith, Sr. and Louise Gray Smith of Orange Park, Florida. He was one of four children including two brothers, Tom Smith (Fountain Inn, SC), Terry P. Smith (Green Cove Springs, FL) and one sister, Gwen Rogers (Belton, Missouri). He was a Carpenter by trade. He loved to appreciate the life on the St. John’s River in Orange Park, FL. He was a smart fisherman, loved to catch fresh crab, as well as live shrimp.
He was a real Crocodile Dundee and could put alligators to sleep on our dock when we lived off of Raggedy Point Road in Orange Park, Florida. As a young man, he did barrel racing with many of his horses at Clay Mavericks in Orange Park, FL, and he obtained many ribbons. He can be described as a true Florida native that loved the great outdoors.
He is preceded in death by his parents Thomas P. Smith, Sr. and Louise Gray Smith, one brother Terry P. Smith, and one nephew Jason Owens.
He is survived by Tom & Marie Smith (Fountain Inn, SC), Gwen & Darren Rogers (Belton MO), Jim & Kim Smith (Augusta, GA), Tina and Dennis Moore (Greer, SC) and Justin Wright & Angie Shearer (Middleburg, FL).
In lieu of a Celebration of Life, the family will be will be holding a private ceremony at a later time.
