MIAMI — The Miami Heat on Tuesday announced their roster for summer league, a roster featuring only two players currently under contract to the team.
Beyond returning wing Myron Gardner, who has a partial guarantee in place; undrafted University of Miami guard Tre Donaldson, who has been signed to a two-way contract; and second-round pick Ryan Conwell, who could be signed as soon as Wednesday; the rest of the summer roster will be working on a tryout basis.
Also on the roster is center Vlad Goldin, who played last season on a two-way contract. Goldin has been extended a qualifying offer for another two-way contract, but has yet to sign accept that offer.
Guards Jahmir Young and Trevor Keels, who both finished last season with the Heat but did not receive follow-up assurances for next season, also are on the summer roster.
Not currently listed on the Heat’s summer roster is Keshad Johnson, with the Heat bypassing a qualifying offer at Monday’s deadline for the forward, who now is a free agent. Johnson is eligible to return to the Heat on a two-way contract or a standard deal.
Beyond the aforementioned players who were with the Heat last season, the only other NBA veteran on the Heat summer roster is former Baylor guard Kendall Brown, the No. 48 pick in 2022 by the Timberwolves who went on to play two seasons with the Indiana Pacers.
The Heat’s summer roster will be guided by assistant coach Wayne Ellington, assisted by developmental assistant Remy Ndiaye, Heat G League coach Dan Bisaccio and video coordinator Mario Casamajor.
The Heat open their summer schedule Friday at 8 p.m. Eastern in San Francisco at the California Classic against a similar roster of rookies, free agents and young players from the San Antonio Spurs.
The Heat are scheduled to begin their summer workouts at the California Class on Wednesday.
In a twist for those without streaming, the Heat’s first three games in the Las Vegas NBA Summer League that are on Prime also will be carried locally by Local 10 WPLG, which has taken over as the Heat’s local-rights holder for next season.
