Miami, FL – South Florida organizations have launched a major humanitarian relief effort by sending 50 tons of emergency supplies to Venezuela as recovery continues following the devastating earthquakes that struck the country.
The shipment departed from Miami International Airport aboard a cargo aircraft after volunteers spent days collecting, sorting, and packaging donations from residents, businesses, churches, and nonprofit organizations throughout South Florida.
The effort was coordinated by the Doral based Global Empowerment Mission in partnership with LATAM Cargo.
The aid shipment includes bottled water, nonperishable food, medical supplies, hygiene products, generators, tents, baby essentials, and emergency family kits intended to assist communities impacted by the earthquakes.
Organizers said volunteers worked around the clock to prepare the cargo for transport, with each family kit designed to provide food, clean drinking water, and basic necessities for several days.
South Florida’s large Venezuelan community played a key role in the donation drive, with collection sites receiving thousands of contributions from Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties.
