PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (CBS12) — Port St. Lucie Police are praising a Dave & Buster’s employee for her quick thinking and quick actions that may have prevented an impaired man from driving.

The incident happened at the Dave & Buster’s on SW Gatlin Blvd. Tuesday June 30 at about 12:45 in the morning.

Police body-cam video captured the arrest of Anthony Rosales, 38, of Port St. Lucie.

Police say a bartender/server at Dave & Buster’s, Izabella Drumheller, 23, was alerted by a co-worker that a man was passed out in his vehicle, with the engine running.

Drumheller, who says she has been trained as an EMT, went outside and found the guy in his car and realized he was in no shape to drive.

Police say there was a strong odor of alcohol in his car and an empty bottle of vodka in his car.

“I went and checked on him, like, shook him, made sure he was awake, um, checked his pulse, so I couldn’t really feel anything on his wrist, so then I checked his neck, he wasn’t waking up. Shook him a little bit, kind of got him up, jolted. He was, you know, agitated, as most people are when they get woken up. I was just asking if he was okay, you know, like, hey, my name’s Bella. Everything okay? And then, um, it wasn’t really coherent sentences, you know? You could tell he was intoxicated,” Drumheller said.

She called 911 and stood nearby, waiting for police to arrive.

“The fortunate news is that you know he didn’t hurt himself. He didn’t hurt anybody else. But being in that situation, it can be very dangerous, and it happens all the time, so… Did you have any hesitation about getting involved? Absolutely not. And why is that? Um, like I said, I’m just empathetic. I care, you know?” Drumheller explained.

Drumheller, a full time bartender/server at Dave & Buster’s, says she hopes to become an EMT-paramedic someday.

Rosales is charged with DUI, resisting an officer with violence, operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license, resisting with violence, battery on a law enforcement officer, and making threats to law enforcement.
