HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. (CBS12) — A man and woman were arrested after deputies said they fled from law enforcement with a small child in the back seat of their vehicle.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, deputies on Monday spotted a driver they identified as a habitual traffic offender with 16 prior convictions for driving with a suspended or revoked license. The vehicle was traveling near East College Avenue and 30th Street Southeast.

The sheriff’s office said deputies attempted a traffic stop, but the driver and passenger switched seats before fleeing onto Interstate 75 northbound. The Florida Highway Patrol later joined the pursuit and attempted a second traffic stop on Big Bend Road, but the vehicle continued driving.

Aerial video released by the sheriff’s office shows deputies pursuing the vehicle before successfully bringing it to a stop. The video then transitions to body camera footage showing law enforcement officers arresting the two suspects after deploying K-9s.

The video also shows a young child strapped into a car seat in the back seat of the vehicle.

The driver, Lourdes Guerrero, 40, and the passenger, Rogelio Murillo, were both arrested.

Murillo is charged with driving while license revoked as a habitual traffic offender and possession of a controlled substance.

Guerrero is charged with fleeing and attempting to elude law enforcement, aggravated fleeing to elude, aggravated child abuse, trafficking in fentanyl, and aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer with a deadly weapon while committing a felony.
