Fireworks, cookouts, stars and stripes are expected on Independence Day.

The federal holiday is Saturday, but many businesses are observing it on Friday.

From postal services to grocery stores, we break down what’s open and closed in Tampa Bay on July 4 for America’s grand 250 celebration. But beware, many are observing the holiday on Friday, July 3 as well.

State and local offices

In a news release, Gov. Ron DeSantis announced state offices will be closed from July 2-6, in addition to the regular state holiday observance of Independence Day on July 3.

The majority of Tampa Bay offices will be closed on Friday, along with libraries, tax collectors and courthouses.

The U.S. Postal Service will maintain normal business and delivery operations on Friday and will be closed on Independence Day.

Standard FedEx parcel operations move to modified service on Friday, FedEx Freight is closed, and the FedEx Office will be open with modified hours on July 3-4.

UPS won’t have pickup or delivery service on the holiday. Be sure to check your local UPS for modified hours.

Grocery stores on July 4th

Publix, Walmart and Target will be open on America’s 250th birthday and ready for your last-minute hot dog bun pickup.

Speaking of hot dogs, Costco is closed, so don’t expect to get your fixings in its food court. BJ’s Wholesale Club and Sam’s Club remain open.
