City of Cape Coral secured $2.65 million in state funding for infrastructure and public safety projects after Gov. Ron DeSantis approved the 2026-27 state budget. The city will receive $2.5 million to improve Northeast 24th Avenue, a key roadway and hurricane evacuation route, along with $150,000 to purchase a police department emergency response vehicle. Both awards represent partial funding of the city’s original requests. However, a $10 million request for the Utilities Expansion Project was not approved. City officials said they will continue pursuing state funding for utility expansion and other infrastructure priorities.
