PORT ST. LUCIE – A Port St. Lucie man was arrested on June 29 after Port St. Lucie Police found cocaine, other drugs and firearms inside his home, according to police reports.
Wallick Hicks Cooper, 37, of the 800 block of Southwest Monica Street, Port St. Lucie, was arrested on charges including one count of cocaine trafficking; two counts of possession of controlled substance without prescription; and three counts of possession of firearm or ammunition by a felon.
While conducting surveillance at a Valero gas station in the 300 block of Southwest Port St. Lucie Boulevard, an officer noticed a suspected drug transaction between the driver of a Mercedes Benz and a man who approached the driver’s side window, according to police reports.
Investigators stopped the Mercedes after it left, alleging a window tint on the car was illegal. Cooper, the only occupant of the car, reportedly “immediately began lying about where he was coming from and where he was heading,” according to an affidavit.
In conducting a search of the car with Cooper’s permission, no drugs were found but an officer did discover about $1,000 which the officer said he believed came from drug transactions, according to the arrest affidavit.
Cooper, who “smirked and denied accusations,” was released, according to the arrest affidavit.
Police then reported the situation to Cooper’s probation officer, who, on June 29, conducted a search and reported finding suspected drugs in Cooper’s home, according to the arrest affidavit.
With a search warrant, police then found about 4.92 ounces of cocaine; about 12.9 ounces of marijuana; three firearms; and a small amount of pills in the house.
Cooper has a medical marijuana card, but had not received any since February and the marijuana found was not packaged in a manner consistent with legally possessed marijuana, according to the arrest affidavit.
As of July 2, Cooper was in the St. Lucie County Jail on a $461,000 bond on charges of trafficking in cocaine; three counts of possession of a weapon by a convicted felon; possession/use of drug equipment; possession with intent to sell a controlled substance; two counts of possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, according to jail records.
