After being drafted in the First Round of the 2025 NBA Draft by the Orlando Magic, Jase Richardson had a solid, if not stellar, season for the Magic. Richardson played in 54 games, averaging 10.9 minutes and 4.4 points while shooting a modest 35.4 percent from three. He also, notably, participated in the NBA Slam Dunk Contest, as his father did before him. Richardson, now entering his second year, will likely get a larger role for the Magic, and it will be expected that he will be a featured player at NBA Summer League, where he will suit up for the Magic.
As someone who loves to watch the Summer League games, I can tell you that the expectation for Richardson is that he will play in two or three games, and it will be expected that he will pop off the screen after playing real NBA minutes. What you want to see from these second-year, high draft picks is that they are the most talented and comfortable players on the floor. It’s not always easy, as the Summer League has players from all walks of life and journeys all fighting to make a name for themselves. It’s physical, chaotic, and ugly, but Richardson’s smooth offensive game should shine in the showcase.
