The Tampa Bomb Squad detonated an “unstable” explosive device found in the garage of a St. Pete home.
The device was found at 7201 8th Street N after a homeowner passed away.
St. Pete police called the Tampa Bomb Squad for assistance, which determined it was too unstable to transport.
On Thursday afternoon, the bomb squad buried the device to let it burn out safely underground. No injuries or damage were reported.
Nearby mobile homes were temporarily evacuated while police were at the scene.
