ST PETERSBURG, Fla. (WFLA) — A suspect who police believe killed a man and a dog in St. Petersburg was taken into custody on Wednesday.
According to the St. Pete Police Department, an 86-year-old man and his family dog were found dead on Tuesday.
Detectives believe Jason Blythe, 43, shot both the man and the dog to death in the 5800 block of 11th Street South.
While police said the motive remains unclear, the suspect and the victim were acquainted.
Blythe was arrested in Tampa on a warrant out of Georgia for aggravated assault on a peace officer and eluding. He is being held without bond in Hillsborough County.
Once detectives and the State Attorney’s Office complete filing the arrest warrant, Blythe will be moved to the Pinellas County Jail on the charges of first-degree homicide, animal cruelty, and felon in possession of a firearm.
