With many people off of work July 3, here’s a look at what’s open and closed this Friday before Independence Day across Tampa Bay.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — While the 4th of July falls on a Saturday this year, many people are off of work on Friday, July 3, in observance of the holiday.

That may have you wondering, are banks open today? What about the post office and the U.S. stock market? Here’s a look at what’s open and closed this Friday before Independence Day across Tampa Bay.

Are banks open on July 3?

Yes. Most major banks and credit unions, including Chase and Bank of America, are open for normal operating hours on Friday, July 3, 2026.


Is the stock market open on July 3?

No. U.S. stock markets, including the New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq, will be closed on July 3. Trading will not resume until 9:30 a.m. on Monday, July 6.


Is the post office open on July 3?

Yes, the U.S. Postal Service is open and will be operating on its normal schedule on July 3. 

It will be closed on Saturday, July 4.


Is there mail delivery on July 3?

Yes. The USPS is operating business as usual on Friday, so mail pickup and delivery will continue. 


Is Publix open on July 3?

Yes. Publix stores will be open during regular hours on Friday, July 3, and Saturday, July 4.

Major grocery stores across the area are open on Friday, including Aldi, Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods and Winn-Dixie.
