8 people saved after boat overturns near Sanibel Causeway
SANIBEL, Fla. —
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office said all occupants are accounted for after a boat overturned near the Sanibel Causeway on Friday afternoon.
Deputies said the boat’s occupants are “fine”, and the call will be turned over to the United States Coast Guard.
In a Facebook post, the U.S. Coast Guard Station Fort Myers Beach said eight lives were saved, including an infant and a child, by their crews.
The Sanibel Fire & Rescue District said they were canceled from the call.
