For anyone celebrating America 250 in Orlando — the county’s No. 1 tourist destination — there is plenty to do to celebrate the festivities.

Downtown Orlando’s free fireworks always draw big crowds to see the colors bursting over Lake Eola on July 4. The party starts early at 4 p.m. with live music and a children’s play area. At 9:10 p.m., “Prepare to be dazzled by a monumental fireworks spectacular, perfectly synchronized with a live performance by the Orlando Concert Band,” the city said.

But you can also expect lots of patriotic celebrations at Central Florida’s theme parks and throughout the small communities stretching from Winter Garden, Winter Park, Altamonte Springs, Ocoee and Apopka.

Both Disney and Universal are planning July 4 entertainment to wow guests.

Epic Universe will shoot off Fourth of July-themed fireworks, while Universal Studios will bring out stilt walkers, a DJ and more live entertainment. 

The U.S. Air Force Reserve’s 920th Rescue Wing is scheduled to fly over Magic Kingdom and Epcot at 10:30 a.m., July 4. You can also expect special fireworks show at the Magic Kingdom July 4. Meanwhile, Disney transformed its Soarin’ ride at Epcot to feature famous U.S. scenes.

SeaWorld Orlando kicks off Red, White & BBQ to sell barbecue from across the country, including Kansas City, Texas and Memphis specialties. The event starts July 4 and runs through Aug. 23.

As part of regular ticket admission July 4, Legoland Florida is shooting off fireworks and giving out 3D glasses to see special effects at Red, White & BOOM!

Elsewhere in Central Florida, Winter Park is throwing its free party 6-9 p.m. on July 3. The event includes the Bach Festival Choir and Brass Ensemble led by Dr. John Sinclair, along with plenty of activities for the kids, including carnival midway games, bounce slides and face painting, as well as free treats.

“Bring your blankets and lawn chairs, and wear your red, white, and blue to enjoy an evening of patriotic festivities,” the city said.

It’s also wise to start July 4 off with a good breakfast. Windermere’s annual pancake breakfast is from 9-11 a.m., July 4, at the Town Hall, 520 Main St.

Altamonte Springs is bringing back Red Hot & Boom for its 29th year. The free July 4 festivities run 5-10 p.m. at Cranes Roost Park, with fireworks going off at 9:30 p.m. Country singer Chris Lane is part of the entertainment.

Apopka’s July 4 free celebration starts at 6 p.m. with the Private Stock Band’s performance and culminates with fireworks at 9 p.m. at the Apopka Amphitheater. 

Ocoee is focusing on history to celebrate America 250 from 5-9 p.m., July 4, at Bill Breeze Park, 125 North Lakeshore Drive 

“As part of the America 250 celebration, historical reenactors portraying Thomas Jefferson and John Adams will sign commemorative copies of the Declaration of Independence, while a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution Adams-Onis Treaty Chapter will appear in period attire as Abigail Adams,” the city said.

“One of the evening’s most anticipated attractions will be Paul Revere riding horseback along Lakeshore Drive, dramatically announcing, “The British are coming!” Special ride-through appearances are scheduled for 6 p.m., 7 p.m., and 8 p.m.”

The Ocoee party also includes live music, food trucks and other family-friendly fun. Fireworks will shoot over Starke Lake at 9 p.m.

In downtown Winter Garden, the city is hosting several free events and music leading up to a 9:15 p.m., July 4 fireworks show at Newton Park on Lake Apopka. 

“The spectacular fireworks display will be even grander this year with a special red, white and blue finale to mark America’s 250th anniversary,” the city said.
