After the arrest of a New York-based U.S. Customs and Border Protection agent accused of attacking an Orlando community service officer and shooting into his home, booking records show the agent’s wife has also been arrested to face similar charges. Natalie Portelli, 53, faces charges including shooting or throwing a missile into a dwelling or structure, attempted second-degree murder, criminal mischief at or above $1,000, battery, and battery by strangulation, records show. She’s the wife of Angelo Portelli, who was arrested in May after an alleged confrontation outside the home of an Orlando community service officer escalated into a violent attack, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office. His charges include four counts of attempted second-degree murder in the incident. Angelo Portelli’s arrest affidavit states that in October, a woman ended a relationship with him after discovering he was married and had allegedly lied about divorcing his wife. The woman then began dating an Orlando Police Department community service officer who moved in with her, according to the affidavit. In December, Angelo Portelli was accused of confronting the couple outside their Orlando home, attacking the officer from behind before shots were ultimately fired into the occupied home while the woman and her two children were inside. Angelo Portelli’s arrest affidavit states he was wearing a hoodie and a face mask during the confrontation, as well as that Natalie Portelli — who was described as having on a blonde wig and also wearing a hoodie — was with him as he knocked on the home’s door ahead of the fight. While at the door, Angelo Portelli allegedly told the woman that the rear window of the community service officer’s marked vehicle had been broken. Investigators noted Angelo Portelli and Natalie Portelli were seen walking behind the marked vehicle and the woman’s vehicle before approaching the couple’s door. Angelo Portelli is accused of attacking the community service officer as he went out to check on his vehicle, putting him in a chokehold, the affidavit states. As both men were on the ground and the community service officer called for help, a female voice could be heard yelling “shut the (expletive) up” before Natalie Portelli allegedly approached them and struck the community service officer multiple times with her fist, investigators said. The community service officer managed to break free, return to the home, and arm himself, the affidavit states. At that time, Natalie Portelli reportedly crouched behind a parked vehicle while Angelo Portelli raised his gun and fired at the home, investigators said. The community service officer said that he returned fire, at which time Angelo Portelli and Natalie Portelli are said to have run back to their vehicle and sped away, according to the affidavit. Natalie Portelli is further accused of returning to the crime scene and retrieving Angelo Portelli’s cellphone, which had allegedly fallen on the ground during the struggle, the affidavit states. The investigation expanded to New York. Officials with U.S. Customs and Border Protection interviewed Angelo Portelli, who admitted being in Florida during the incident and acknowledged firing his agency-issued weapon, according to the affidavit. Natalie Portelli is further accused of returning to the crime scene and retrieving Angelo Portelli’s cellphone, which had allegedly fallen on the ground during the struggle, the affidavit states.
The investigation expanded to New York. Officials with U.S. Customs and Border Protection interviewed Angelo Portelli, who admitted being in Florida during the incident and acknowledged firing his agency-issued weapon, according to the affidavit.
