TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – A search for a missing diver ended in tragedy Friday night, according to the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission.
FWC says they were notified of a missing diver in Franklin County Friday. The agency said a father and son were diving south of Alligator Point, but the son never resurfaced.
The U.S. Coast Guard and the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office assisted the search, using dive teams, boats, and aircraft.
The search ended around 9:30 p.m. Friday when rescuers discovered a body.
“Our hearts are with the family and loved ones of the victim during this tragic time,” FWC said in a statement.
FWC said the investigation remains active.
